Bön

bon

The other tradition: Bön, with its own canon, its own philosophy and its own account of the ten sciences.

This page is a placeholder. It exists so that the structure does; the text will follow, and will be checked by a teacher of the field before it is called finished.

Bön is Tibet’s other religious and philosophical tradition, with a canon, a monastic system, a medicine and an astrology of its own, and a history that its followers trace to Tonpa Shenrab long before Buddhism reached Tibet. Its principal monastery in exile is at Dolanji in India. The ten sciences are as much Bön’s as anyone’s.

The pages here will present Bön on its own terms.
