Diet and Conduct

The first two trunks of the tree of treatment: what to eat and how to live, by constitution and by season.

This page is a placeholder. It exists so that the structure does; the text will follow, and will be checked by a teacher of the field before it is called finished.

Treatment begins with food and behaviour, not with medicine. Foods are classified by their tastes and qualities and prescribed or forbidden according to the patient’s constitution and the season; conduct covers sleep, work, exercise and the mind. A large part of Tibetan medicine is advice on how to live, and it is the part that anyone can use.

The pages here will present the classification of foods and the rules of conduct for each constitution and season.
