Gen Thupten’s class drew pictures of happy and sad times. Yangtso drew her birthday party. She was so happy! Namgyal drew his dog who ran away. He was so sad. Gen Thupten put all the pictures together. “Look,” he said. “Everyone feels happy sometimes. Everyone feels sad sometimes. We all have the same feelings inside. That’s what makes us all human.”
What’s Happening?
Every person in the class had happy and sad times. This is true for everyone everywhere! Your teacher feels happy and sad. Your parents feel happy and sad. Kids in other schools feel happy and sad too. People in other countries feel the same feelings you do.
We all smile when something good happens. We all cry when something bad happens. No matter where we live or what we look like, we share these feelings. Everyone wants to feel happy. No one wants to feel sad or hurt. This is the same for all people!
Because everyone has feelings, everyone needs kindness. When someone is mean to us, it hurts. When someone is kind to us, it feels good. This is true for everybody! We all need people to be nice to us. We all need help when we are struggling. We all need friends who care. Kindness is something every person needs, just like food and water.

Families around the world love spending time together and celebrating! The food, songs, and traditions might be different, but the love and joy are the same. This shows how humans everywhere share the need for family and celebration!

Every family has their own favorite foods! What you eat depends on where your family is from and what they like. But everyone needs food. Different is interesting, not weird. We're the same in needing food, different in what we enjoy!
